The Front Bottoms – “Cough It Out” Music Video
A bunch of Youtube commenters are complaining that “Cough It Out” isn’t the classic Front Bottoms sound and they don’t like the changes, but I think this song and video get at some of my favorite things about the Front Bottoms from before they were “big”. I remember one of their early songs from before they were signed with an crappy music video that was just the drummer Mathew the singer Brian running as hard as he could down the street for the whole song, and I loved it to death. I’m actually sad I can’t find the old video right now, but this video takes me back. I think the lyrics have all of the Front Bottom’s bare honesty that makes me love them, and Brian’s voice doesn’t sound as harsh as usual which works for me.
UPDATE: The Front Bottoms song I was thinking of is More Than It Hurts You and it was actually Brian doing the running!
Queen – “Let Me In Your Heart Again”
If you’re a huge Queen fan like me, you’ve probably already heard this “forgotten” track from the sessions for 1984’s “The Works” album when it was finally fixed up and released with “Queen Forever” at the end of 2014. But if you haven’t heard it, “Let Me In Your Heart Again” is the standout track that you must hear. It features Freddie’s angelic voice at the peak of his ability.

Dawes – “A Little Bit of Everything”
Dawes performs “A Little Bit of Everything” live at the 2011 Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Bristol, Virginia.
UPDATE: I’m trying to learn this song on guitar, and I’m about halfway through it. There are a lot of variations as the song goes on that I have yet to master.
Jet – “Get Born” review
“Hey assholes, it’s us again, Jet! Here’s the song you came to hear, a shameless rip-off of ‘Lust for Life’ by Iggy Pop, who is here with us tonight in this cannon.”
Still one of the best record reviews ever. I would love to read more creative/clever reviews like this. The same reviewer also did a fantastic writeup for Audioslave – Out of Exile.
Katie Chastain – “Snowshow” music video
I really love the physical world that this music video creates. Sometimes you can create more magic without CGI and camera trickery.

UPDATE: For the record I’m a terrible PA player, I can’t micro and macro large armies which makes me suck at almost all RTS games. That’s why I prefer MOBAs like DOTA 2. Brianpurkiss won this game almost single-handedly, but he said in game it was good for him to be able to focus on combat while I ran the economy.

I started a blog about music that I like that nobody has heard. Can you tell me whether my writing sucks? 🙂
